My first born

I took this photo about a month after my hysterectomy. In the days following the surgery, I had several dreams of being pregnant again—dreams where I was so happy, only to wake up feeling a deep sadness and loss. That morning, I walked into the kitchen to find my son lying in an empty box, curled up the way he used to be. It hit me how fast he's growing, how quickly time has passed. Seeing him in that position reminded me of when he was in my womb, calm and peaceful.
