
“A song in my heart. A blizzard around me”.
In 2010, New York City experienced one of its worst blizzards. At 1:00am, I grabbed my camera at the height of the blizzard, ran out of my apartment and took this picture.
I grew up under Apartheid, was barred from studying Art by virtue of my skin color. As a student I joined the Anti-Apartheid movement in Cape Town. In 1999, I moved to the US and promptly learnt that the State Department blacklisted Nelson Mandela.
