10,000 American soldiers were killed on June 6-9, 1944 as they stormed the beaches of Normandy and are buried at Omaha Beach in the American Cemetery there.

I am from Louisiana, and my father served in WWII, and this trip to Normandy was one of the most emotional places I have ever been to in my lifetime.
