Before The Fire

This photo I took during the 2020 fires in Oregon. The high winds had carried all the smoke from the eastern Oregon fires to us in the Willamette Valley. I went to check on my horses to see how they were doing with the smoke and high winds, when a fire broke out on top of the mountain right above us. We watched as the fire grew and grew. As truck and trailer after truck and trailer fled down the mountain. Eventually we also had to evacuate later that night. My animals mean everything to me, and I am so glad we were able to get them out safely. Luckily the fire did not reach the barn they were at and we were able to return a couple of days later.
