I first was introduced to America's Favorite Photos through a friend with an entry asking for support. She was my referral who also received the referral bonus as well! I decided to submit a photo into the December 2024 competition. My first and only entry. As my profile says, "I'm just a guy with a camera".
I took this photo while on a cruise. I was heading to dinner and someone mentioned the sunset looked spectacular outside so I went out on deck. I took it on my iPhone 14. It was simply good timing with a steady hand. I didn't even get to really look at it until much later when I was searching for a new profile photo on my laptop. That's when I noticed all the detail in the water, and the colors.
My advice to future entrants is to select a photo that stands out and is different. This wasn't even my first choice and I switched it just before I entered. You also need to campaign everywhere for votes and MUST keep expanding your support. What gets you through the first round is not enough for the later rounds.
I am glad I entered of course, but you need to be in it to win it. I also enjoyed looking at all the other entries in other rounds. I've received so many messages of congrats!
I had my photo enlarged and it is now an inspirational conversation piece in my home!
