“YOU WERE HERE”

I was hiking at Redwood National Park when I came across a fallen tree along the trail. One of its branches was pointing down at me saying “ YOU WERE HERE” it felt personal - like the forest acknowledge my presence. I smiled and pointed back on the branch, silently making a promise. A promise that I’ll comeback here someday, that this wouldn’t be the last time we meet. It felt like a small but meaningful connection- one I’ll always remember and carry with me until I return.
