The beauty of a bridge like a mirror
Ginny Wagenseller has enjoyed photography as a hobby for years.
"I've always loved taking pictures," she said. "Whatever captures my eye."
Finding ways to take extreme close-ups and distance shots, like capturing the detail of fur on a bee or the majesty of a remote mountain vista, is an enjoyable challenge for Wagenseller.
On a trip to visit her sister in Florida, the geometric design of a bridge caught the Pennsylvania retail manager's eye.
Like a mirror in front of a mirror, the white, etched columns of the bridge seemed to multiply into the background.
"It looks endless," Wagenseller said. "It goes on and on and on."
'If you want it, go for it'
When she learned about America's Favorite Photos, she decided to enter the picture.
Wagenseller recruited friends and coworkers in Pennsylvania, her sister's circle of acquaintances in Florida and even customers in her store to vote for the image she called "Endless."
She even printed 5x7 copies that could be handed out to drum up support.
It was fun to see her artwork reach so many people, she said.
Wagenseller also liked that it was free to enter the competition.
When her winning check came in the mail, Wagenseller was elated.
"When I found out that I won, I was like, 'No way! I did it,'" she recalled. "I was super shocked."
Now Wagenseller is looking forward to the end-of-year competition.
"It's hard work," she said, "but if you really want it, go for it."
